A historic Victorian-style home was heavily damaged by fire on Mackinac Island over the weekend.
The Mackinac Island Fire Department got to call at 6 Sunday night to come to the Brigadoon Cottage in the 7-thousand block of Main Street, across from the marina.
Saint Ignace and Mackinaw City fire departments were called to the island to help. Saint Ignace sent six firefighters and a truck, and Mackinaw City sent eleven firefighters. They were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings. The fire chief says the third floor of the Brigadoon Cottage was heavily damaged. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

On 5/30/21 at 18:04, St. Ignace fire was dispatched to a Mutual aid call for a working structure fire on Mackinac Island in the 7000 block of Main St. across from the marina.
St. Ignace fire responded with Engine 3 to the Sheplers ferry dock with 6 Firefighters and equipment and where transported to the Island.
During this time Mutual aid request went out to Mackinaw City as well to responded to the Island, they responded with 11 firefighters. At the same time Multiple Mutual aid request went out to Mackinac County Fire Dept. and Cheboygan County Fire Dept. to cover area’s and prepare to respond to the Island as well.
During the same time St. Ignace Fire was dispatched to a working wildland fire near the Carp lake camp ground SIFD, responded Squad 1 to this incident along with Brevort Twp. Fire as well as units from Federal Forest fire division.
A Thank you to all Mutual aid Departments and Shepler Ferry Service for transporting St. Ignace fire and Mackinaw City fire to and from the Island. The Mackinac Island Community Center for opening up there doors to feed the firefighters after the fire.
St. Ignace Fire was back in Service 23:00 hours. with no injuries being reported. Thank you to anyone i missed.
