Executive Director Scott Czasak of the Escanaba Downtown Development Authority (DDA) made the following announcement today:
“The Escanaba DDA is proud to announce the completion of the Shared Kitchen project at the Escanaba Marketplace located in Downtown Escanaba. This project is another step in making the Escanaba Marketplace the centerpiece of Downtown which will have a multitude of uses. We would like to invite the Escanaba community to join us in celebrating the completion of this project at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 22nd at 11:00 am at the Marketplace on the corner of Ludington Street and South 15th Street, just prior to the start of the Esky Clean-Up at Noon.”
The Shared Kitchen project, paid for with grants from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and the Hannahville Indian Community, and by the Escanaba DDA, provides for commercial kitchen space at the Escanaba Marketplace. Multiple uses are projected, including catering for the existing event space, educational projects, and restaurant development.
“As we come out of the pandemic restrictions the residents of Escanaba deserve something to celebrate”, said Czasak. “The completion of this project, in conjunction of the beginning of Farmer’s Market season, demonstrate downtown Escanaba is moving forward!”
