The Delta Solid Waste Management Authority, announces Don Pyle has provided his notice of intent to retire from the company after serving as its Manager for more than two decades.
According to the Authority, “the move marks the conclusion of a thoughtful and comprehensive, succession planning process.” Dave Lundquist from within the Authority with almost 10 years of experience is taking the helm as “Landfill Operations Manager” and Terri Rabitoy has been hired to be the “Administration Manager” for the Authority.
Both are lifelong Delta County residents.
Don will serve in a consulting capacity for the remainder of 2021 to help complete a seamless transition.
“It has been a pleasure to serve the Authority and the good people of Delta County for the past twenty-one years,” Don said. “We’ve built a durable foundation from which Dave and Terri can continue to provide for the waste disposal and recycling needs of Delta County. Both are very hard working and capable to deal with the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead to protect the environment of Delta County.
The Authority Board relayed, “This announcement follows a robust, succession planning process developed and executed by the board and Don, culminating in the development of these two positions that heavily complement each other.”
“Don has left an indelible mark by delivering sustainable value and transforming the authority while creating a one stop facility for Waste Disposal, Recycling, Composting and Household Hazardous Waste drop-off for residents and businesses in Delta County. Don, with the Authority board has the legacy of conceiving, developing and finally building the new North Side Landfill site with over 100 years of waste placement compacity as well as overseeing the development and implementation of the current recycling processing facility built back in 2003.”
Dons experience in the waste industry has spanned nearly four decades. He started in waste hauling business in the early 80’s in Stephenson MI. with a small hauling company and has been very active in the development and growth of the waste and recycling industry in the U.P. Don has sat on multiple committees and boards within state government as well as coalitions and associations within the Solid Waste and Recycling Industry.
