The National Weather Service and law enforcement are reporting flooding in the Escanaba/Gladstone area after high winds pushed Lake Michigan water ashore, and rain fell throughout Monday afternoon and evening.
Wind gusts of 40-to-45 miles per hour were reported throughout the evening hours, pushing water into Gladstone’s marina area and covering portions of Escanaba’s Ludington Park. The Delta County Central Dispatch reported numerous homes with flooded basements along Lakeshore Drive in Escanaba.
Numerous social media photos and videos were shared showing parking lots and fields inundated by flood waters. Some of those have been shared with us and are posted on the LOCAL NEWS page at radioresultsnetwork.com.
Flooding was also reported along M-35 in Cedar River, as well as to homes further south to the City of Menominee, in particular, on the city’s north side near the North Shore Golf Course.
In Schoolcraft County, wind gusts of 45 miles per hour were reported at Seul Choix Point. High winds were also reported in Marquette County, with a 60-mile-per-hour wind gust detected at the Big Bay Lighthouse north of Marquette.
