Sirens in the streets of Gladstone Sunday as the Gladstone Indians American Legion baseball team was honored with a parade, one day after capturing their third straight state championship.
Thure Dahlgren is with Gladstone American Legion Post 71.
“It’s wonderful,” Dahlgren said. “To do it three years in a row? The way the community supports us, it’s just wonderful. I’ve been at this since 1999, when we started Legion baseball, and the City of Gladstone is good to support us. They’re great. Baseball keeps them out of trouble.”
A community celebration was then held at Don Olsen Field. The Indians were the third local team to win a state championship, along with the Escanaba High School and Gladstone Little League softball teams. There are pictures and videos from the celebration, and from Saturday’s championship game, on our sports web site, RRNSports.com.
