With the new hospital scheduled to open in one month, UP Health System – Marquette is issuing a call to UP artists to help adorn some of the new facility’s public areas with local artwork.
“Art can play a significant role in health and the healing process,” says Victor Harrington, Regional Director of Marketing and Community Relations. “It’s a great asset to promote these benefits by partnering with local artists and showcasing our local talent.”
UPHS has formed a committee to maintain a rotating exhibition of local art that will allow for both sculptural/3-D displays and 2-D wall-hanging displays. As many pieces are often for sale, artists’ contact information will be available so that interested parties may inquire and arrange purchase of the displayed works.
“We feel this exhibit is a win-win for our patients, guests and artists and will be an attractive addition to our beautiful, state-of-the-art facility,” Harrington says.
UPHS hopes to have the selected pieces installed prior to their opening date of June 2. For artwork specifications, submission policy and loan agreement visit their art exhibit web page at http://www.mgh.org/about-us/for-patients-and-visitors/visitors/art-exhibit for more details.
