More than 75 Krist Oil locations in the Wisconsin & Upper Michigan area teamed with customers to raise $17,759 to help transform the lives of kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases during the 37th annual MDA Shamrocks program to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
“Krist Oil each year for the past 10+ of years, sells MDA Shamrocks and their customers demonstrate their generous support by purchasing MDA Shamrocks to help their local community and the families impacted by neuromuscular diseases,” said Adri Atanasoff “We’re incredibly thankful for everyone who participated and we’re honored to do our part in support of MDA’s mission to help Wisconsin and Upper Michigan families affected by these muscle-debilitating diseases live longer and grow stronger.”
From February 11 to March 17, Krist Oil locations participated in the nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day fundraising program in which customers and associates purchased an MDA Shamrock at check-out for a $1, $5 or a larger contribution at check-out. Each Shamrock was signed by the customer and prominently displayed in each store, symbolizing strength, independence and life for MDA families in the community.
Since first teaming up with MDA in the early 2000’s, Krist Oil and its customers have raised more than $167,180 to help MDA provide the families it serves with critical resources and support to fulfill life goals. This year, the MDA Shamrocks program united tens of thousands of retail locations throughout the country to benefit the organization’s shared mission to fund groundbreaking research across diseases and provide individuals with life-enhancing programs and support services, including state-of-the-art multidisciplinary care the MDA Care Center at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield Wisconsin and Prevea Health in Green Bay, WI.
Recent major medical and scientific advancements including the development of four new drugs that are now available treatment options, and the promise of more to come, make today the most promising time in the history of neuromuscular disease research and care — made possible in part by the funds raised and support given over the years to the MDA Shamrocks program.
Funds raised also make MDA Summer Camp possible for more than 100 area kids where they can experience the best week of the year at no cost to their families at Salvation Army Camp Wonderland.
