St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marinette received $2,000 from Johnson Controls Inc. to operate the food pantry in Marinette for the month of February. This sponsorship allows the pantry to offer food assistance to households that make less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
The food pantry meets the needs of more than a 1,000 visits over the course of one month. The cost of maintaining current levels of food assistance at the food pantry is approximately $3,000 each month. This sponsorship will help the pantry purchase fresh produce, milk and meat; keep the refrigerators and freezers running; and operate the truck for food picks ups from area grocery stores and the dairy.
“We think it’s important to address hunger in our community. No family member should have to go to bed hungry. Johnson Controls, Inc. is proud to support food security in the Marinette and Menominee area,” says James Cox, Senior Marketing Communications Manager at JCI.
St Vincent de Paul executive director Kalyani Grasso says, “We are grateful to JCI for ensuring that families who are struggling to make ends meet don’t go hungry.”
