Thanks to the M&M Area Community Foundation, with funding from the C.S. Mott Foundation Clean Energy Initiative, the Peshtigo School District received a $3,500 donation to update lighting in its shop areas.
New LED lighting will replace 23 old metal halide fixtures which will significantly reduce energy consumption and provide better lighting for students to learn in. In addition, the Peshtigo School District will receive $1,150 in Focus on Energy Rebates for this project.
The Community Foundation’s funding also helps provide opportunities for teachers to receive professional development in Energy Education.
Teachers learn how to integrate clean energy curriculum appropriately in the current science coursework. Lessons will provide students hands-on projects that will provide them experiences with recycling, reuse, and reduction.
