State Sen. Ed McBroom (R-Norway), and members of the Delta County Board, Road Commission, and county staff, were all sworn in during a ceremony on Thursday in Escanaba. McBroom was given the ceremonial oath of office by Delta County Circuit Court Judge John Economopolous, with a standing-room-only courtroom full of people looking on.
“Just humbled,” McBroom told RRN News. “To see this many people come out on a busy Thursday afternoon. Delta County has always been good to me. I couldn’t have done it without a good team of volunteers who went door-to-door (during the election campaign) and that was even more important on the farm after the death of my brother (Carl).”
McBroom says that career/technical education and choices for high school students, and government transparency, are two of the big issues on his agenda when he arrives in Lansing in January.
McBroom served three terms in the Michigan House before leaving office due to term limits in January, 2017. He replaces fellow Republican Tom Casperson (R-Escanaba), who is leaving after two terms in the Senate.
