Faculty and students in Lake Superior State University’s School of Nursing pose after an induction into the Chi Omega Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society (STTI).
The society is the second-largest nursing organization in the world, with about 135,000 active members. Since its formation in 1922, more than 360,000 nurse scholars have been inducted into the Indianapolis, Indiana-based society, with membership in more than 90 countries and territories and in 431 chapters located on 515 college and university campuses in the United States.
To be eligible, students must complete more than half of their coursework and be in the top 35 percent of the nursing program.
About 25 LSSU and Sault (Ontario) College students along with community nurse leaders from Michigan and Ontario were inducted on Oct. 19, making Lake State’s chapterone of the only true international chapters of STTI.
