The Schoolcraft Co. Feeding America Mobile Food Truck will visit Manistique on Wednesday, October 31st from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
The location for pick up is Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, 7870W US Highway 2, Manistique, MI. The October truck has been sponsored with UP grant funds from Feeding America West Michigan.
SMH will be distributing new and used youth coats inside the hospital atrium from 8:00am-12:00pm or until supplies last. Coat donations and financial contributions were collected and raised by SMH employees and community members. SMH is still accepting donations if community members are interested.
Anyone residing in Schoolcraft County with an emergency food need may participate. If you are picking up a box for another family, please bring a signed note with their address and permission to issue the box to you. There are new USDA slips that need to be signed for personal boxes and boxes being picked up for others. Please destroy slips from other distributions as they are no longer accepted. REMINDER: No smoking is permitted on hospital property.
PLEASE BRING A LARGE EMPTY CARDBOARD BOX. The distribution is set up drive-through style. ALL CARS MUST ENTER ON SOUTHTOWN DRIVE – FOLLOW SIGNS. All vehicles will be directed to SMH EXITS after pick up. The next truck has been scheduled for November 28th with generous donations from local sponsors Petique and NAPA.
Residents may also have a box of food delivered to their door, by calling Schoolcraft County Public Transit at 341-2111 at least 3 weeks in advance. The cost for delivery is $1 per box for a delivery to housing complexes and $2 per box to a residential homes.

In 2016, Feeding America West Michigan provided 24 million meals across 40 Michigan counties which equates to an estimated 492,100 people each year. Locally, the 20,000 lbs trucks help feed 400 households in Schoolcraft County monthly.
