Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Dave Nyberg of Skandia to the Michigan Natural Resources Commission.
The NRC is a seven-member body that works with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to conserve, protect, and manage the state’s natural and cultural resources for the use and enjoyment of current and future generations. No more than four members may be from the same political party.
“Michigan is a state with abundant natural and cultural resources, and I thank Dave for ensuring all Michiganders, present and future, have access to them,” Snyder said.
Nyberg is the director of corporate engagement at Northern Michigan University and previously served as deputy legal counsel and tribal governments liaison to Gov. Snyder. He also was director of the governor’s northern Michigan office based in Marquette. Nyberg holds a bachelor’s degree and law degree from Michigan State University. He will fill a vacancy created by resignation of Christine Crumbaugh and represent Republicans.
Nyberg will serve a four-year term beginning Dec. 31, 2018, and expiring Dec. 31, 2022. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
