The appointment process to replace retiring Delta County Treasurer Tom Sabor began with the Treasurer Appointment Committee’s first meeting on October 2, 2018. The committee consists of Delta County Probate Judge Robert Goebel, Delta County Clerk Nancy J. Kolich and Delta County Prosecuting Attorney Brett Gardner.
The committee agreed at the meeting to start immediately accepting applications for the Treasurer’s position.
The deadline for the submission of all applications is set for October 19, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. All candidates must complete the Delta County Application of Employment form and attach three letters of reference and a resume. The completed application packet must be submitted to the Delta County Clerk’s Office, 310 Ludington Street, Escanaba, Michigan 49829 by the stated deadline to be considered.

All timely submitted applications will be reviewed by the committee on October 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Interviews with selected candidates will be conducted on November 8, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. All committee meetings are open to the public and they are held in the Delta County Probate Court’s courtroom, 310 Ludington Street, Escanaba, Michigan 49829.
Candidates should note this appointment is being made to fill the vacancy for an elected office and they must be a registered and qualified elector of Delta County, and bondable. The appointment is to fill the vacancy from January 7, 2019, to December 31, 2020. The Treasurer’s position will appear on the 2020 ballots for the 2021 – 2024 (4-year) term of office.
