Bay College’s on-going commitment to the arts and cultural fabric found in Delta County and beyond will be on display on November 1st during a public exhibition and fundraiser event in honor of the late Robert Addison (1924-1988), the “master of light and shadow.”
Robert Addison, who found artistic inspiration from Escanaba’s people and places, is considered by art historians to be “the greatest Realist of the 20th Century.” Bay College houses the largest collection of Addison’s critically-acclaimed body of work found anywhere in the world, a distinction made possible through the generous donations of artworks made by his wife, Betsy Wickman Addison of Escanaba and most recently, Lacy Rasberry of South Carolina and others.Art
Bay College’s, Evening with Addison aims to honor the vision, legacy, and impact of Robert Addison on the community and the art world as a whole as patrons are invited to make their own lasting impressions about his works during art talks from art professionals who will plunge deeper into the mysteries and techniques of Addison’s works. What is anticipated to be an enchanting evening diving into the magic and mystery of Addison’s works also includes libations, alluring appetizers, warm camaraderie, and the enlightening background of music featuring Phil Lynch on the grand piano in the North Gallery, and the moving vocals of Augie and Theresa in the South Gallery.
The event will feature an Addison art auction offering an opportunity to add Addison’s incredible art to your own walls. Tickets are $55 per person or $100 per couple/duo. Several sponsorship opportunities are also available, offering the chance to leverage your businesses exposure while at the same time contributing to the event’s goal of raising funds for student success and the arts. This evening is a win-win for all community members- businesses, supporters, artists, alumni, parents and friends of Bay College alike- to come together, connect, and enjoy an evening on campus while supporting student success through the arts.
