At the Dickinson County Health System board meeting Tuesday, a decision was made regarding the future of the hospital.
Local Three News reports that a motion was filed and the DCHS board approved the recommendation to begin the legal pursuit of a Business Reorganization through a voluntary Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, a Dickinson County Board meeting was held Monday night to discuss the possibility of the hospital filing for bankruptcy. The Dickinson County courtoom was standing room only as public comment after public comment approached the commission with their story. Employees of the hospital were concerned where their next paycheck was coming from. Retired employees are worried of their pensions disappearing.
The board will hold another meeting this Thursday at 6pm central time and the Dickinson County Courthouse to discuss next steps.
