A 52-year-old Marenisco man is being held in the Gogebic County Jail facing numerous charges,
The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department says that while patrolling US-2 near M-64 North in Marenisco Township last night at approximately 10:00 p.m., a Sheriff Deputy’s radar indicated a motorcycle traveling eastbound at speeds between 123 to 125 mph.
While attempting to stop the motorcycle, the driver accelerated and continued eastbound on US-2 for a short distance, slowed, and made a U-turn, accelerating rapidly back west with a radar indicated speed of 161 mph.
The driver of the motorcycle slowed down and turned south onto M-64 / Fair Avenue before coming to a stop, according to police.
The driver was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, attempted flee and elude, reckless driving, refusal of a breath test, expired registration, no insurance and resisting and obstructing an officer.
His name is not being released pending his arraignment.
