As if being able to ride the Tilt-A-Whirl and being able to gobble a scrumptious funnel cake wasn’t enough – racers through Michigan and Wisconsin will have a crack at earning some big money during the Dickinson County Fair races at Norway Speedway Labor Day weekend Friday August 31 & Sunday September 2.
Two full programs of stock car racing will take place on both nights with a two night “Fair race” champion being crowned Sunday. Points will be tallied for both races with the Coca Cola late model champion hauling in an extra $1,000 for the championship. The Auto Value super stock champ will pocket an additional $500 while 141 Auto sportsman and stock four champions will earn an extra $100 for their fair weekend titles.
The same point structure that is used for the weekly Norway Speedway races will be employed. On Friday night August 31st Kubick Aviation and Ford Airport will sponsor the fair races. Spectator eliminator championship races will be run as well with an earlier start time of qualifying at 4:30 p.m. and racing getting underway at 6 p.m. The earlier start times are in place so the show gets done in plenty of time so fans, drivers and track workers will have ample time to enjoy the fair themselves.
On Sunday September 2 Island Resort & Casino sponsors track championship night with a $1,000-to-win late model feature. The sport truck division will also be in action with an earlier 2:30 p.m. qualifying start with the first green flag flying at 4 p.m. A raindate of Monday, September 3rd will be used if it’s needed. The start time for that, if needed, is to be determined.
For race fans it’s FREE admission to the races with their paid admission to the fair, which is just $5.
