Schools were closed across Delta County Thursday morning as melting and snow, freezing drizzle, and light rain combined to make roads slippery.
Delta County Road Commission Manager Jody Norman tells the Radio Results Network that there’s concern about deteriorating conditions Thursday night and Friday morning.
“Temperatures are supposed to plummet really fast,” Norman told RRN News. “I don’t think we’re going to get any snow, it looks like the precipitation is going to quit. But as it starts to freeze, so, it’s probably going to get much worse tonight than what it was this morning, by the looks of things.”
Norman says they’ve been intentionally keeping some snow on the side roads throughout the county to provide at least a little traction for motorists. He says that his crews will be working through the night and Friday morning to, first, keep the main roads clear, and then, move on to the secondary roads.
