Escanaba Public Safety responded to 3343 US 2 & 41, Wells Township, at approximately 11:47AM after a 911 call to Delta County Central Dispatch on a report of a residential structure fire.
Officers arrived on scene and observed flames coming from the second story north window. The two story structure was occupied at the time of the fire, but all five family members were able to escape without injury.
Officers utilized several attack lines and mutual aid from Ford River Township Volunteer Fire Department to extinguish the blaze. An exterior and interior attack at the north upstairs bedroom brought the blaze under control quickly.
The aggressive fire attack by officers, along with Public Safety’s CAF (Compressed Air Foam) suppression system on the apparatus, minimized the fire damage to the second story.
Officers were on scene for approximately two hours battling the blaze. No injuries were sustained by firefighters or the occupants. The cause may have been from a box fan overheating in the north upstairs bedroom.
Assisting with the fire was Delta County Central Dispatch, Ford River Township Volunteer Fire Department, Delta County Sheriff Department.
