USW 48-Hour Food Drive Continues In Escanaba, Gladstone

If you see people picketing in front of Escanaba’s Elmer’s County Market and Pat’s Foods this weekend, don’t worry, there’s no labor trouble at the stores. The members of the United Steelworkers Local 2-21 at the New Page Mill are holding its 48-hour-long “Striking For Hunger” event all weekend long.

Organizer Brandon Stomberg says they’ll be collecting food for those who are less-fortunate in the Delta County community. You can also drop off personal hygiene items, and cash. This is the fourth year that the union has done this. Union members will be in front of Elmer’s and Pat’s until 5:00 Sunday afternoon.

You can also drop off items at White’s Grocery, North Bluff Grocery, and Kuchenberg’s Corner Market. The food and other items will be given to the Salvation Army in Escanaba, and St. Vincent DePaul’s in both Escanaba and Gladstone.
