Coast Guard Helps Two Accident Victims On Beaver Island

A Coast Guard aircrew from Traverse City evacuated two people off Beaver Island Saturday after the pair were hurt the night before in a traffic accident on the island.

The Coast Guard in Sault Ste. Marie got the request from Beaver Island officials early Friday evening, but because of bad weather conditions, the air crew from Traverse City couldn’t make the trip until the next day.

By late morning Saturday, weather conditions were slightly improved.

The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter then went to the island to help the two people who were suffering from injuries they received in a traffic accident. The patients were taken to the mainland, where ambulances carried them to a Traverse City hospital for treatment. Their names and conditions were not made public.
